Cardio Between Sets?

Most of the people that are working out remain passive in the resting period between sets, whether we are talking about 30 seconds or 5 minutes. Scientists from Australia, Malaysia and New Zeeland launched the theory that light aerobic activity between sets could stimulate muscle hypertrophy. This kind of activity will accelerate your metabolism and increase the production of hormones such as the IGF-1 and the growth hormone, both of them being responsible for muscle growth. Besides this, aerobic exercises are sending nervous and mechanic stimulus to the muscles. For the moment this idea is only a speculation, but it relies on solid scientific arguments (Strength & Conditioning Journal, vol. 34, 8-15, 2012).

And what are you doing between sets? Are you just sitting down and resting or are you spending these small breaks in an active way? Tell us your opinions in the comments area below!
